Jeep Parts - Mile Marker Winches
Mile Marker is a famous Jeep parts maker of electric and hydraulic winches for both OEM, aftermarket and military applications. They have been in business for nearly 30 years providing winches for 4x4 vehicles as well as applications for ATV and UTSs. Mile Marker's main distribution plant and Jeep parts production facility for electric winches is situated in Washington, DC. Their other plant, where they produce drive-train parts and hydraulic winches, is located in sunny Pompano Beach, Florida. Mostly noted for winches, Mile marker started out in business manufacturing other Jeep parts, in particular, lock out hubs for a large variety of vehicles ranging from Jeep CJ 7s all the way to Toyota FJs.

The smallest amount needed will be a winch mounting plate. These can be bolted to the front bumper of your vehicle or between the frame if you own a Jeep. Drilling may be needed to mount the plate. There are also Jeep parts companies out there who make front bumpers that have a channel built right into the bumper to mount a winch so a winch plate is not required. After you have the winch mounted some wiring will be needed. Wiring diagrams come with all winches. As an average (less the price of the winch) installation will fall between $100.00 - $600.00."
There are seveal Jeep parts makers of electric and hydraulic winches besides Mile Marker. A very popular name in the Jeep parts industry is Warn. They offer a big variety of winches including types with air compressors attched to them. Another well-known Jeep parts maker is Smittybilt. The winches they build are more mild mannered for off road enthusiasts who are looking for a winch with one purpose in mind, recovery. One other key aspect that Smittybilt offers along with Mile Marker is a synthetic winch rope. Synthetic rope is a stable substitute to the benchmark steel cable because it doesn't snap-off when it reaches its breaking point. In addition, for those on a budget, Jeep parts fabricator, Rugged Ridge, has some great products for those in demand of a winch, but who probably won't be using it much. All of these manufacturers are superb. What makes Mile Marker rise to the top is the fact that they are produced in the United States of America and are used by our armed forces.

Does cable companines sometimes put metal poles in the ground to mark cables?
There is a metal pole sticking out of the ground, about a half a foot, and it's by our green box that houses our phone lines and cable. Is that a marker for the cabal company or is it some type of property marker? My wife and I just bought the house and the surveyor had our yard marked more on the middle of the green box, this pole is about 3 feeet in our yard.
However, our neighbor seems to think it's a boundary marker? I told him that the surveyor had it marked differently and when I tried digging up the pole there were wires under it...pole is deep and I have to leave it there.
Funny thing is I have planted bushes along our "property line", at least I thought it was ours but if this stupid pole is it then the bushes are on my neighbors property. He does not care but I would like to know.
