What's the benefit of doing a 1993 Rx7 rotary engine with an ls1 engine?
I've seen some videos on youtube of some rx7's with a v8 ls1 engine. They sound sick (in a good way).
both have their highs and lows first the ls1 pros: more dealer support and factory performance parts, more torque, easier hp gains, higher hp capability, and longevity (this motor can go longer then the rotary without needing a rebuild). ls1 cons: heavy, low redline (compared to rotary), expensive. rotary pros: high redline capability (15k plus if build and tuned right), cheap (compared to ls1), greater hp:liter ratio, need more power just bolt on more rotors. rotary cons: heavy (compared to the ls1), need a rebuild very often even in stock form, not as reliable as other motors due to high rpm... all in all both are evenly matched if it is for street use build a 3 or 4 rotor but have a back up engine or car for when it comes time to rebuild... if it is for racing only then the ls1 shines for its greater reliability with high hp numbers and low rpm torque
